For me, Eilat is a sunny, geographically isolated but
very busy israelian city located at the extreme northern end of the
Red Sea.
Apart from famous 5 star luxury hotels, it provides to the visitor a unique
nature environment : protected seashore with coral reefs
and even swimming with dolphins and when just looking towards West, stunning
low-altitude (200-1000m) desert mountains
and deep valleys (called wadi). I made numerous 1 to 8 hour hikes in there
when during vacations and I am glad to share my pictures.
My only frustration is when blocked by barbed wires with "DANGER MINES" signs
when following long time ago marked trails leading towards the sea &
egyptian border at Taba.
One can only dream that one day true peace in this region will make them
disappear !
